In Memory of Andrew Sherwood

Friday, July 20th, 2007

We wish to offer our prayers, love and our deepest condolences to Josh and Amanda Sherwood for the loss of their sweet baby boy, Andrew, who left this world to return to his Heavenly Father one week ago today (July 13th, 2006).

Marylynn and I were babysitting Josh and Amanda’s two boys, Zack and Andrew last Friday. We had put Andrew down for a nap only to discover that he had passed away in his sleep shortly thereafter. It was every parent’s (as well as every babysitter’s) worst nightmare. At this point, all signs point to SIDS, so there was nothing we could have done to prevent it. It would have happened either at our place or if he was at home.

So with that in mind, it is obvious to us that the Lord had some reason he wanted us to be involved – and that reason, we believe is to ease the burden from the Sherwoods so they wouldn’t have to go through the ugly part. We are so blessed that they feel the same way and we have been drawn closer through this. We both feel like this was one of the reasons we ended up in New Jersey – to be there for each other through this.

We were also blessed to have family come out right away to help support us through this. John, Jaime and their kids came out right away and Sarah (Marylynn’s sister) and Mary (Marylynn’s mom) flew out from Califonia the next morning. They were with us for a few days, and Quang happened to be in town on Wednesday so we got to feel like ourselves again. Everyone at my work was really sympathetic and incredibly supportive. They let me take most of the week off to be with family and recoup. The funeral was Wednesday and I was honored to be a pallbearer and walk alongside Josh. The burial will be held on Monday in Orem, UT. The Sherwoods are such an amazing family. Our hearts just weep for them, their little boy Zack and the memory of sweet little Drew. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

I already did this a few months ago, but I thought I’d try again… you know, for fun.

1. Put your music player on shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title as the answer to the question even if it doesn’t make sense. NO CHEATING!

HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY? Redemption Song – Bob Marley (not quite)

WHAT IS YOUR OUTLOOK ON LIFE? Animosity – Rancid (haha maybe if I was still 14)

WHAT DOES YOUR FAMILY THINK OF YOU? Hymn to the Moon – Damon Albarn (uh… ok)

WHAT DO YOUR FRIENDS THINK OF YOU? Tu Dis Rien – Louise Attaque (pretty true as of late)

WHAT DO STRANGERS THINK OF YOU? Ch 09 Mormon – Book of Mormon (wow I guess strangers know I’m mormon)

HOW IS YOUR LOVE LIFE? Soma – Smashing Pumpkins (ouch!)

HOW WILL YOUR LOVE LIFE BE IN THE FUTURE? The Prisoner – Tears For Fears (hahahahahahahahah)

WILL YOU GET MARRIED? Hit The Road Jack – Toky Ska Paradise Orchestra (since I’m already married, is this a bad sign??)

WILL YOU HAVE KIDS? Nobody’s Lonely Tonight – Moneybrother (I guess that works. the kids are sleeping in one room and me and marylynn in the other)

ARE YOU GOOD AT SCHOOL? High Fidelity – Elvis Costello (ok, cool)

WILL YOU BE SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE? Bewitched – Luna (or is that more like cursed?)

WHAT SONG SHOULD THEY PLAY ON YOUR BIRTHDAY? Get It Get It- Scissor Sisters (get presents? nice!)

WHAT SONG SHOULD THEY PLAY AT YOUR FUNERAL? Where is My Mind? – The String Quartet Tribute to the Pixies (PERFECT!!)

THE SOUNDTRACK OF YOUR LIFE: Baggy Trousers – Madness (haha great!)

YOU AND YOUR BEST FRIEND ARE: A Spell (For Money) – Blur (I wish!)

HAPPY TIMES: Blue Tears – The Black Heart Procession (wow…depressing.)

SAD TIMES: I Got No Reason – Rollings (even more depressing)

EVERY DAY: Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me) – Norman Brown (Yeah, I guess that fits)

FOR TOMORROW: I Can’t Help Myself – Delroy Wilson (fantastic)

FOR YOU: Chicks And D***s – Junior Senior (hahahahahahah)

WHAT DOES NEXT YEAR HAVE IN STORE FOR ME? Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song) – Otis Redding (wow, my iTunes is so pessimistic today)

WHAT DO I SAY WHEN LIFE GETS TOO HARD? While I’m Still Strong – Weeping Willows (fits somehow)

WHAT SONG WILL I DANCE TO AT MY WEDDING? M1 A1 – Gorillaz (I wish this was out at my wedding, it would have spiced things up a bit)

YOUR FAVOURITE SAYING? Jens’s Sneaking – The Knife (Oh he is? what a sneaky sneak)

HOW WILL I DIE? Sirrocco – The Huntington Cads (But what does it MEAN??)

THE SONG THAT YOU’LL PUT AS YOUR SUBJECT? Saving Metroville – The Incredibles Soundtrack
