The French Flag

Friday was the day we had to say goodbye to our beloved France. It was such an amazing trip in so many ways. It was great for me to share France with Marylynn so she could experience the places and culture that meant so much to me. And I’ll always be grateful to the Dobys who were so good to us. I can’t wait for them to come out our way!

Paris Trip – Day Six

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

We woke up on Thursday knowing that it would be our last full day in France and although we hadn’t seen everything we wanted to (Musée D’Orsay, Marie Antoinette’s Estate, etc.), we didn’t feel high pressure to cram it all in. I think we were tired and ready to relax a bit. We absolutely LOVED being in France, and at the same time, we felt like it was time to start heading back.

We slept in rather late that day. It was amazing to sleep in a GOOD comfortable bed. Riaz and Bérengère had to go out to a doctor’s appointment, and they left us with an incredible breakfast!

Finn at Notre Dame Cathedral

Wednesday morning was our fifth day in Paris and it was time to check out of our hotel. We packed up our stuff and I tried to find Riaz’ number, so I asked the lobby and they pointed me to a little closet with a computer in it! Joy! First things first, I looked up his number. Then I checked my Facebook and mail (of course). I guess I lost track of time and Marylynn came down looking for me. Could you imagine that? She checked her sister Sarah’s blog only to find out that she had had her baby 5 days prior!! Aw man! Well, with this good news, the lady at the front desk didn’t charge us for the internet usage! Imagine that! And they say the French are rude…

Day four in Paris, and we were totally determined to see some more stuff! Absolutely nothing would stand in our way… to see stuff! So we set out to see more… stuff. Sorry I should have warned you that the very first picture on this post would be a spoiler. Oh well, get over it.

Paris Trip – Day Three

Day Three in Paris, and we still had lots to do. It was Monday and that meant we could finally purchase our Museum Passes (good for most museums and monuments in Paris) and our Paris Visite pasees (good for all trains, buses and subways).

And here is Marylynn in front of our hotel we were staying at. Prices were a bargain, ranging from $500 – $3,000 a night.

Paris Trip – Day Two

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Our second day in France, was a Sunday, and since we were in Versailles, I insisted on visiting my old ward there, in hopes of seeing people I knew. So we took a bus up and made it just in time for Sacrament Meeting. I was stoked to be able to sing hymns in French again, and Marylynn got her own personal translator via a pair of headphones.

After church, our plan was to head up to Normandy and see Mont St. Michel, so we headed into Paris to buy train tickets and leave from there.

Me and Finn under La Tour Eiffel

Marylynn and I took a vacation to Paris this past week. We’ve been hoping to go together since before we got married, and we finally made it! We spent seven days out there, so I’m dedicating seven blog posts to it.
