Jemma’s Wedding!!

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Jemma by Tyler Jacobs

I just got back yesterday from Salt Lake City where I was attending my sister Emma’s wedding to her main man, Jed Briggs. With their powers combined, they are JEMMA!!

I almost wasn’t able to go due to financial restraints, but my mom hooked me up with a buddy pass (she works for jetBlue) and I was able to go all by my lonesome. I sure missed Finn and the kids, but I wasn’t gone TOO long.

It was quite a whirlwind trip. I flew out Friday. I did the wedding and reception on Saturday. Sunday, I had breakfast with my dad and siblings, had dinner with my good friend Toffer and tried to fly home on the same flight as Jemma. We got rejected (isn’t standby awesome?) and had to wait another 24 hours. So Monday I worked a little on my laptop and we went and saw the Dark Knight altogether. Then later Jemma and I flew back to JFK on the red eye (they were heading to Cancun). What a fun time. How about some photos?

Emma commissioned a bunch of her friends and family to paint portraits of them to display at the reception. That’s my piece above. Now check out the entire awesome Flickr album after the jump!! !!

Virgin Mobile Festival 08 Report!

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of going to the Virgin Mobile Festival down in Baltimore. The Virgin Mobile Festival (or V-Fest as the kids say) is a 2-day rock festival that my company puts on every year that is rather awesome. Sure it’s no Coachella, but for my money’s worth, it’s definitely high on the awesome meter.

Marylynn didn’t want to go, so i offered her ticket to Billy Watkins, a 19-year old fellow music geek in my ward. We drove down to Baltimore together and had a total blast. i took a TON of pictures, and I whittled them down to the best 100. I then uploaded them to my new Flickr account (which is also awesome by the way). Prepare yourself for a butt-load of photos. You can click on them to view a larger size and/or comment on the individual pic! Flickr is so cool!!

Lily’s 4th Birthday

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Saturday morning we headed out to PA to visit John and Jaime and their family to celebrate Lily’s fourth birthday! The drive down was rather nice. I played the audiobook of the first couple chapters of The Audacity of Hope (which is awesome, but I’ll talk about that later…), so the drive down was pretty nice.

We got there a little early so we helped set up. I got to fill the chip bowls. Oh what fun. They had the slip-n-slide set up on the hill in their backyard and lots of fun inflatable water toys for the kids. John made some AWESOME (virgin) piƱa-coladas with strawberries and blackberries. There were tons of yummy snacks (goodbye diet… for one day) and then when Katie and Clayton and the other guests showed up it, it just got to be totally awesome. (Click on an image to make it bigger, and please forgive the wonky layout of this gallery… I’m still trying to figure it out.)

Best Father’s Day EVAR!!!

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

I realize this is a little late, but I just figured out an easy way to upload images through this blog (which is the primary reason for Finn to start her own blog.

Well, I’m truly a blessed man. I’ve got the raddest wife who treats me like a king on Father’s Day. This morning started out rather nice with no early morning bishopric meetings, so I got to sleep in until 8am. Marylynn made me a nice big skillet breakfast of eggs, potatoes and bacon (I got to cheat on my diet today! woo hoo!) and I took Cricket to church. Buster seemed a little sick so we decided to play it safe, so Marylynn stayed home with him. This also gave her the chance to clean up for me. Awesome.

So church was good until I got called in to help with the nursery. This is a positive post, so I’m going to skip that part.

When I got home, Marylynn treated me to a nice dinner of BBQ ribs and veggies. Awesome. Then I got to open my big present – GUITAR HERO 3!! woo hoo… In case you’re not familiar with Guitar Hero, it’s a video game, played with a guitar where you hit notes and strum in order “play” real songs. And some of the songs are actually really good. The cool part is that I can download songs through the Playstation network… so we’ve been rocking out to No Doubt, Muse, Coldplay, Kaiser Cheifs, The Killers, Weezer and a bunch more around our house.

Below are the incredibly adorable pictures. Click for captions.

Then we feasted upon a GIANT double-layer cream-filled chocolate chip cookie that was decorated like a cake with frosting saying “happy fathers day”. This thing was a monstrosity!! Seriously so big, and especially coming from being on a diet… well, you know what they say about too much of a good thing…

I can’t remember what we did after we put the kids down, but we probably ended up watching a movie or something. All I know is I’ve got a rad wife who treats me great and knows to get me what I REALLY want for Fathers Day. woo hoo!
