Tonight was bittersweet as some of my best buddies from Virgin Mobile took me out to a farewell dinner of sorts at an awesome Portuguese restaurant up in Somerville. Originally, Octavio, Nick and I referred to ourselves as the “Design Triforce” – a design team that was not to be reckoned with. Then we took it to the whole next level when Kelvin was moved over to our area. We had become the QUADROFORCE!! A totally unstoppable team who could actually be stopped by ruthless higher-ups, a sluggish economy and downsizing.
But seriously, it was awesome to hang with the guys again tonight and the lovely Lynn (who serves as the April O’Neil role to our Ninja Turtles), who also took this picture for us. Thanks guys for the AMAZING dinner and the Christmas gift that meant so much to me and my family, you’ll never know. It was awesome working with you for these past two years and hopefully I’ll see you again soon.
The Quadroforce is dead! Long live the Quadroforce!
As I’ve been working on my portfolio site, I decided to scan a bunch of silly drawings I’ve done over the past year or two of people. Often times, during long meetings I like to draw the people around me, especially the ones doing the speaking. So if you go to church with me or worked at VMU with me, then chances are I’ve drawn you. I’m interested in faces and the different shapes and features and how I can bring them out the best ways. I hope I don’t bum anybody out with my interpretations. So, without further ado here’s a bunch of my favorites.
So I figured I should go ahead and write about this, since basically, I’m rather sick of talking about it now and if I get the whole story out, it’ll be one of those elephants in the room everyone’s afraid to acknowledge. Monday morning I showed up to work and everyone was all a-buzz talking about an e-mail sent out by our company president. A fairly large number of people were going to be laid off. Apparently the economy was effecting the company the same as every one else. I didn’t think I was in too much danger until about 20 minutes later when I got called into my department manager’s office.
I just snapped this pic out the window of the lobby here in the Hilton Hotel I’m staying at. Gotta hand it to my boss, Marc D… he’s the man.
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of going to the Virgin Mobile Festival down in Baltimore. The Virgin Mobile Festival (or V-Fest as the kids say) is a 2-day rock festival that my company puts on every year that is rather awesome. Sure it’s no Coachella, but for my money’s worth, it’s definitely high on the awesome meter.
Marylynn didn’t want to go, so i offered her ticket to Billy Watkins, a 19-year old fellow music geek in my ward. We drove down to Baltimore together and had a total blast. i took a TON of pictures, and I whittled them down to the best 100. I then uploaded them to my new Flickr account (which is also awesome by the way). Prepare yourself for a butt-load of photos. You can click on them to view a larger size and/or comment on the individual pic! Flickr is so cool!!
Did I ever mention I’m one of the two greatest soccer players alive today? No? Well, here’s some video proof for you.
They had a Christmas party at my work specifically for the kids, which is awesome Marylynn brought up Cricket and Buster and we had a great time. It really made it feel like Christmas time for sure!
I just got back from the Virgin Festival in Baltimore. (well, I’m still at the hotel…) It was an awesome 2-day spectacle of music, sweaty people and questionable smells. I didn’t get to see every band. there was really so much going on it was a bit overwhelming.. I should give you a quick rundown of my experience while it’s still fresh:
